The highlight of the new AIKO modules is the currently unique partial shading optimization technology. This technology ensures higher solar power yields!

Most modules on the market are half-cell models with six cell strings each – three on the top and three on the bottom half of the module. If a cell in the module is shaded, for example, by tree shade, leaves, or dirt on the module, the resistance in the shaded cell increases. The current seeks the path of least resistance and therefore no longer takes the longer route via the remaining cells of the affected string, but instead via one of the three bypass diodes. As a result, the module loses one-sixth of its power – a 16.67% power loss due to just one shaded cell. This is where the new AIKO technology comes into play:

The new AIKO Neostar Gen 2 modules keep the resistance in the shaded cell so low that the current can continue to flow through the cell string and does not have to be diverted to the bypass diodes. Although the shaded cell no longer generates power, the remaining cells in the string continue to deliver full power. This reduces the power loss to 1/54, or 1.85%, for each shaded cell. Thus, with just one affected cell, the photovoltaic module runs at 98.15% of its capacity instead of being throttled down to 83.33%.
